SPORE

Posted on the 17th September 2008

=========================

Last week I was tasked with reviewing the new release from The Sims creators Maxis: Spore. In my article I discuss the evolution of your creature, moments which you will remember forever and moments you will really want to forget.

Once again posted on play.tm HERE.

Go!View

=======================

Sorry for the lack of news.

However about a week ago I submitted to play.tm a part 1 review of Sony and Sky’s new Go!View service for the PSP. It’s a new paid for service that costs from £5 to £10 (depending on how many packages you go for) for downloading tv shows and movies.

See what I thought about it in THIS article.

Condemned 2: Bloodshot Demo

Posted on the 18th April 2008

=====================

A new offering on Xbox Live is a demo of ‘Condemned 2: Bloodshot‘. I have actually owned the game since the day of release and love it to bits, however if you haven’t sampled the latest offering then I would highly recommend that you download it and give it a whirl (especially if you like the first one). This new one is just as dark and just as creepy as the first but this time around it doesn’t treat you like a baby and hold you by the hand when you take part in the ‘detective’ parts of the game. This time they are a lot more involved and offer a score for how well you have done using a mark from 1 to 5 stars, for the perfectionists out there there is also an achievement for getting a perfect all the way through the game (I thought this would be easy after the first few ‘detective’ type parts but they get progressively harder). There are also some online features this time around, but you can read more about that in my review on play.tm

Also released on Wednesday was an Xbox Live Arcade game by the name of ‘Rocky & Bullwinkle‘ an Arcade game based on an old cartoon of the same name. I downloaded and tried the demo and have to say I wasn’t too impressed. The game is in fact packed with mini games, some using the controller and some utilizing the Live Cam (a rarity at the moment), however after initially being excited about the Live Cam feature I was quickly let down by the unresponsiveness… has anyone else had this problem? Not recommended, especially not with fantastic games like Wario Ware out there in the wide world!

April Fools

Posted on the 1st April 2008

====================

Nearly every year the web becomes alive with practical jokes on April the 1st. This year is the same as all the others with plenty of sites conning unsuspecting visitors with some very well produced fooling shenanigans!

Nearly every year Blizzard (famous for the World of Warcraft) prank their fans and this year they have yet again outdone themselves with an elaborate hoax. This time around they unvealed pplans for  a version of World of Warcraft for consoles (something many have been hoping for for a long time). After the initial wave of excitement at this prospect you read through the features and begin to realize that you have indeed been caught out yet again.

  • Move in any of 8 unique directions
  • Lush 2D environments
  • Glorious 192i resolution… and so on!

Visit THIS PAGE and admire the effort that has gone into this creation with concept art and even a small trailer to whet your appetite.

Here is a list of some other good April Fools from this year including a youtube clip of Altair from Assassins Creed making a cameo appearence in the upcoming PS3 Metal Gear Solid:

And an honorable mention to a torrent site that I visit from time to time goes to Underground Gamer for their elaborate ‘Gambling’ April Fools joke… it totally suckered me.
