The Monkey Child

Taipei 101

Today Tzu-Yun and I visited the massive: Taipei 101. Such a massive building, the likes of which I have never seen before… it kinda makes you dizzy to look up at it!! Upon entering you are bombarded with many high street fashion shops like Vivienne Westwood and Lacoste, I never realised it was an appartment store!

The views from the top were awesome. I took some panoramic shots but can’t upload them until I get some better image software on Tzu-Yun’s Laptop. Still, there are a few to look at in the Photo section.

After Taipei 101 we went to meet some of Tzu-Yun’s friends for some spicy hotpot… All You Can Eat!! It’s a really nice way to have dinner as you select what you want and add it to the ‘hotpot’ in the middle of the table and then munch away when it’s cooked. I Haven’t taken any photos of food yet but some are bound to pop up in the future.

Tomorrow we should be off to a Museum.
More soon :)

Kiddies ahoy!

Today Tzu-Yun and I were pretty tired, the scorching heat finally caught up with me. Basically we slept until 2pm (accidentaly) and missed our slot to visit the Taiwan National Palace museum as we had arranged to visit one of Tzu-Yun’s friends (we will visit the Museum tomorrow).

Her friends baby was very cute, about 6 months old. Another of her friends arrived with her daughter of 3 years, she was very funny. Her mother is trying to teach her some English and she practiced a little with me.

Her friend made some lovely Korean food, a Korean Barbeque apparently… and instead of using bread you used a lettuce leaf to put all the ingredients in, was a very refreshing way of having a BBQ.

Anyway, enough rambling on… you can find 5 new pictures in the Photo Gallery… trust me, Tzu Yun took loads more but they are all pretty much the same! haha!

A storm be a brewwin!

Well, it’s started to rain as a typhoon sweeps into Taiwan. It’s only a small one apparently but that didn’t stop it being proper random weather. Heavy rain, no rain and heavy winds… the no wind and rain… then back to rain but no wind! All the while it was still sunny!!

Went to a national park which looks better in the spring when all the flowers are blossoming… that didn’t stop there being some amazing views of Taipai, although any photos of this I took looked rubbish. Went and had some mountain food, called such becuase its all plucked fresh from the mountain side (including the Chickens!). Was delicious.

Also went to a coastal area where there is a lot of madly eroded sandstone. Typically I forgot to get my camera out of the car and we were already half way through. Real shame as I think there would have been some amazing pics from that place… I have requested we go again but I have been told the gorge is better! We shall see.

Anyway, 12 of the photos have been uploaded for your browsing pleasure… until next time :)

Some new photos

Hello again. Just popping by to let you know of 15 more photos that I have uploaded. These include the last of the metro photos (I promise!), a memorial place dedicated to the founder of Taiwan as an independent state and Tzu-Yun’s Mum’s shop.

Was very hot today, I was lapping it up whilst Tzu-Yun was complaining of the heat! haha. Also saw the coolest subway station ever with hanging wall art… none of it messed with or graffitied. Also… they all que for the train. I went to walk to the edge of the platform like you do in London when Tzu-Yun dragged me back and pointed out the queue line! haha… thats discipline!

Till the next blog, tata for now.

Yummy

Venturing out last night was great fun, the night market has so much happening. We went to a Tappenyaki stall that was very delicious, shame I forgot to take my camera out with me… still have plenty of time though ;)

I have uploaded a few photos, nothing too interesting… the really good stuff will come later I think.

Off to a Japanese restaurant to have some Sashimi in a bit… can’t wait… bring on all the photos of food! haha

Time to go…

So, time travels fast doesn’t it? It feels like it was just yesterday that Tzu-Yun and I were booking our tickets to Taiwan and now the day is here and we are actually leaving tomorrow. Very excited to say the least.

Anyway, thanks for coming to the blog. I will try and update this from time to time with news of our travels around Taiwan. Also if you browse to the ‘Photos’ section of the site I will upload galleries there for people to gander at some of the pics we have taken… maybe I will post some video clips too, I will let you know on this page when either of those pages gets updated.

Thanks to all my friends for the good luck wishes and cheers for hanging with me over the past week.
See you all in a month

Much Love.
